Rules and Regulations

MEMBERSHIP

Teaching & Non-Teaching staff will automaticallybecome library members. Students will become a member aftershowing their admission receipt with two stamp size photos and willeligible for reading, lending books and surfing internet against twocards. Without proper library card no student will be allowed in thelibrary.

  • ISSUE OF DOCUMENTS
  • Lending is restricted to the books available at lending section only.Maximum two documents can be issued at a time.
  • An over-due charge of Rs.2/- per day shall be charged against eachbook/document not return within the due date.
  • A document issued may be kept by the user up to 14 days. Readersare not allowed to borrow books on the card of other members.
  • A borrower may be requested to return a document before the duedate if required urgently in the library. Failure to respond promptly,may lead to suspension of library privileges.
  • Certain documents are intended to be used only in the librarypremises. Theses include reference books, textbooks, rare books,Current and bound periodicals etc.
  • Borrowers are requested to check if the documents being borrowedare in good condition and no pages are missing in it. In case of defect ordamage in the book, should be brought to the notice of the librarystaff.
  • Borrowers are responsible for the documents they borrow.Documents lost, torn or damaged (tearing of pages, underlining, makingnotes, damaging of binding and the like) shall attract serious actionincluding suspension of membership and/or replacement of documentsconcern. The lost/damaged document shall be replaced by the borrowerwith latest edition if the damaged document belongs to a set , then theuser is responsible for the entire set.
  • If a document is not returned within 30 days of its due date, it shallbe treated as offence and legal action shall be initiated to recover thedocument.
  • While leaving the library, user should ensure that they carry onlythose books that are duly issued on their names, otherwisedisciplinary action will be taken against them.
  • CYBERSPACE RULES [use of this section is meant for academicpurpose only]
  • Do not use the computers to do the following
  • i. Emailsii. Browsing social network siteiii. Playing Gamesiv. Playing Music
  • Do not install or uninstall any program or service in any computer.
  • If any device of the computer is not working, do not fix it kindlyreport at the reference desk or to the person in charge.
  • You are allowed to use the computer for a time allocated bythe library staff. If needed you can be asked to give otherspportunity to use the computers.
  • Do not send jobs for printing, it is not allowed within the cyber.If necessary contact the Library Authority.
  • Please don’t use USB port.
  • Rules and regulation
      GENERAL RULES
    • Smoking and use of mobile phones are strictly prohibited insidelibrary premises. If found, the membership as well the use oflibrary facilities may be suspended.
    • Entry in the library by the users is granted on the expressesunderstanding that they are legally bind themselves to obey all thelibrary rules.
    • Every person who enters to use any section of the library should signthe register, kept in that section.
    • Silence and strict discipline should be maintained in the library by allusers and the library staff. Every one shall ensure that no reader shouldfeel disturbed in their study by any act of his/her.
    • Use of eatables in the library is strictly prohibited. Utmost careshall be taken by all to keep the library clean.
    • No printed document /photocopy will be allowed to brought inside thelibrary unless for returning.
    • Photocopying services shall be available for the readers againstpayment.
    • Users are responsible for complying with copyright act whilephotocopying library documents.
    • Users are requested to return the books/documents on thecirculation table after consultation.
    • On leaving the library all users are requested to produce forinspection all books and items taken out the Library.
    • Improper use of library facilities by a member will lead tothe suspension/termination of his/her membership or may belead to suspension of library privilege for the time beingLibrary rules and regulation may be modified from time to time andshall be binding on all concerned.
    • NOTE
    • The main purpose of these rules is to safeguard the commoninterest of all users and to enable the library to carry outits functions as efficiently as possible.
